Round 12 was choker central. Out of the 11 games that were played (1 bye and a postponement in Div3) 5 teams in the top 4 of their respective divisions all dropped points.

For Div 1:

Mabuhay had a shock loss to bottom placed Crazy Chicken giving the Chicken their first win of the season.

ALAYAH were seen waving the white flag after a team exodus has left them short handed. They fell to Really Rottens.

For Div 2:

Black Magic dropped points for the 2nd straight week as they were only able to get a draw against Nomads

Los Lochos could have closed the gap to 1st to just 3 points but they lost to Dream Team. The 2nd promotion spot is now a 1 point game after Mad House won their game.

For Div 3:

Buhay Na Buhay have dropped out of the promotion spots after they lost to No Star Where. Buhay Na Buhay still have a game in hand but trail by 2 points. Going to be a close one.

Division 1

With the top 4 playing off against each other it was a chance for the bottom 4 to get some well needed points to steer themselves clear of the relegation zone. Sheridans made the most of their chances despite having a depleted lineup as they beat Really Rottens. Those Guys weren’t far behind after they account for Crazy Chicken all but condemning the French to Division 2. In the top 4 games Mabuhay fell over at the final hurdle, they had led Da Vinci’s 5-2 only to loose the remaining 5 games to be left ruing what might have been. Ice Blue demolished an understrength ALAYAH outfit to the tune of 11-1.

ALAYAH def. by Ice Blue 1-11 (5-20)

The word around town was ALAYAH was in a panic shortly before the game started due to the prospect of facing Ice Blue with only 4 players. Thanks to some sportsmanship from Ice Blue and some restructuring of games the night was able to get started. It was a one sided affair with ALAYAH managing to win just the 5 legs. A noticeable difference between the two teams was the amount of tons scored by Ice Blue 28 compared to ALAYAH 14.

Really Rottens def. by Sheridans 5-7 (11-14)

Both teams went into the match without their strongest lineup and both needing a win to stick clear of Those Guys and Crazy Chicken to avoid the possibility of playing darts in Division 2 for the 2nd half of the year. Sheridans started well winning the opening triples games and a doubles to take the lead 3-2 going into the singles. After wins by Tim, Brian, Kris and prodigal son Vlad they had secured the 3 points.

Crazy Chicken def. by Those Guys 4-8 (12-14)

The match see-sawed as Those Guys started well winning both the triples games taking a nice lead into the doubles. It didn’t last long as Crazy Chicken made short work of them and the score was 3-2 in the chickens favour. Those Guys weren’t happy and went in search for personal glory; winning 5 out of 6 singles and the team game to cap off a good night. They’ll need a few more of those to escape the relegation.

Da Vinci’s def. Mabuhay 7-5 (15-12)

It was almost comical to watch the expressions of Mabuhay players as they walked in to find Andre hadn’t quite left the country as previously thought. Heck, I didn’t even know he was still here. The opening triples started at a frantic pace with tons being thrown at will. Mabuhay got out to a nice points lead only for it to be lost after Pete threw a 100 and 140. Da Vinci’s wern’t able to get the check after wiring doubles on their first attempt at checking. Mabuhay made no mistake. Mabuhay would have kicking themselves after they let another healthy lead go to waste in the 2nd triples. Their failure to check allowed Da Vinci’s to square it up. Doubles were a mixed bag with one game being completed in seconds after some crazy scoring by both players whilst the spectators had to endure the third triples with both teams doing their very best not to check out. The score stood at 3-2 Mabuhay’s way after the doubles.  The Filipinos quickly extended their lead after taking the opening 2 games Adrian in a nail biter over Brett with both players scoring tons at will and Brett with a nice 96 out. Da Vinci’s stood on the verge of defeat and the possibility of losing their number 1 ranking…. Thankfully the tail end stood tall and managed to get win despite some nail biting moments where a number of games could quite easily have gone either way.

Division 2

Every game this week went down the wire with all results being 7-5 with home team having the edge winning 3 out of 4 games. Black Magic finally tasted defeat in a close fought battle with The Prixxx. This gives The Prixxx an almost insurmountable 9 point buffer over Mad Cow and the relegation zone. Black Magic still hold 1st place comfortably as they watch the others fight it out for 2nd. Los Lochos look the most likely after notched up another win, this time against Bernies. Mad House are doing their best to stay in the race after they beat Dream Team as is Nomads who have made a late charge.

Dream Team def. by Mad House 5-7 (10-14)

In the battle between 3rd and 4th place it was only fitting that this one would go down to the team game. Dream Team started out strong winning the opening 3 games. Mad House made a mini comeback in doubles to leave the scores at 3-2 going into the singles. Dream Team won the opening two matches giving them a 5-2 lead and need just one more game for a point…. however it wasn’t to be as Mad House won the last 5 games to give them a well needed 3 points if they are to ever to catch Los Lochos.

Nomads def. Mad Cow 7-5 (12-11)

Despite alleged poisoning attempts against Nomads captain Logan (how else do you explain 0 checks) Nomads were able to take away a victory thanks to a well rounded team effort. They started like a house on fire and led 4-1 after the doubles but decided it was best to keep everyone in suspense and didn’t bother to secure the win until the team game.

Los Lochos Borrachos def. Bernies 7-5 (14-9)

Los Lochos Borrachos showed that many hands make light work after 7 of their players were able to record check whilst just the 3 from Bernies were able to say the same. Yuki tried his best for Bernies with 5 checks but needed more help from his teammates.

The Prixxx def. Black Magic 7-5 (11-14)

Despite winning more legs Black Magic wasn’t able to beat The Prixxx and suffered their first loss of the season. The Prixxx would have been feeling confident of the win when they led 6-2 halfway through the singles but Black Magic came back at them winning the last 3 singles 2-0. The Prixxx were able to turn the tide and checked the team game to gain a valuable three points.

Division 3

With Mexico Lindo having pulled out at just prior to the halfway point we have seen the return of the bye and with that an added complexity to the standings. There was nothing complex about the results for the two leading teams Team Viet and Buhay Na Buhay or both had big wins on Tuesday night. Team Viet took out ACDC 11-1 whilst Buhay Na Buhay dismantled Boston Bar 10-2. The 2 other remaining games were thankfully closer with No Star Where accounting for Blue Gecko 8-4. The closest game of the week went to Bernies v’s Buddha Bar. Bernies were just able to get the chocolates winning 7-5

Boston Bullseyes def. by Buhay Na Buhay 2-10 (4-18)

Boston was able to win the first triples and then not much else after that after Buhay Na Buhay made light work of them. 8 players for the Filipino team were able to record checks compared to just one for Boston Bullseyes.

Team Viet def. ACDC 11-1 (20-4)

The game was very close to a whitewash before Brian managed to snag a checkout in the team game to give ACDC a point.

Blue Gecko def. by No Star Where 4-8 (7-15)

Blue Gecko would feel a little short changed after they led 3-1 early only do the last 7 of 8 matches. No Star Where are still very much in the hunt for 2nd place and will need more victories like this if they are to return to their 2010 heights.

Bernies def. Buddha Bar 7-5 (15-10)

It was a topsy turvy affair with both teams going on little runs only for the other team to counter. With both teams locked at 5-5 the result rested on the shoulders of Mike O Hara for Bernies and Dave for Buddha Bar. Mike was calmer under pressure and gave Bernies the 6-5 lead going into the team game. They were able to convert this as well giving them their 2nd win of the season.

Division 1

The ladder received a bit of a shake up this week with ladder leaders Ice Blue falling to Da Vincis in a great battle that went all the way to the last dart. Mabuhay are now also within a game from the top after they beat Those Guys. Sheridans have now drawn half their matches after they drew with ALAYAH. Really Rottens just edged out Crazy Chicken in another close contest. With only 4 games left to play the league could go to any of the top 3 teams.

Division 2

Los Lochos Borrachos have taken their opportunity for promotion and run with it. Unlike fellow competitors Mad House and Nomads who dropped points this week, LLB’s are heading towards the end of the season at full steam after taking out promotion challengers Nomads 9-3 away from home. In the championship stakes Black Magic barely held off a reinvigorated Mad Cow outfit. Mad House dropped points against the Prixxx when they only managed a draw. This allowed Dream Team to catch up to the top 2 after they scored another win. With 4 games remaining  Black Magic will make the move back up to Division1 and 2nd place is still LLB’s to lose.

Division 1

It was a case of top 4 v’s bottom 4 last week and the underdogs all left with their tails between their leags. In reality things were a bit closer with ALAYAH beating Crazy Chicken and Da Vincis defeating Sheridans 7-5 in games that could have gone either way. Ice Blue and Mabuhay had an easier time as they disposed of Those Guys and Really Rottens respectively. With the divide between 4th and 5th place now out to 8 points it leaves the the top 4 to fight it out for glory and the bottom 4 fighting off/embracing relegation. Two important ’6 pointer’ games this week with ALAYAH against Mabuhay and Sheridans v’s Those Guys. Both matches will have a big impact on each teams final standings.

Division 2

Never a dull moment in Division 2, Mad House had the opportunity to put some space between themselves and 3rd place but lost to a previously winless Mad Cow. This bunched up 2nd to 6th with any of those teams still in the running for promotion. Nomads win over Dream Team puts them well clear of the relegation zone leaving Bernies and Mad Cow with a lot of work to do to avoid the drop. Black Magic in the meantime have continued on their merry way with a 9-3 victory of Los Lochos Borrachos.

You may or may not have heard that Paul Devlin has had to return to the UK and maybe there for several months. In this interim period the SIDL committee are looking for someone to take Pauls place on the committee as entertainments manager.

The post involves looking and booking venues for the mid and end of season parties, and  contacting companies willing to donate prizes for the lucky draw.

Ice Blue handed Mabuhay their first lost of the season which left Da Vinci’s the only undefeated team after they accounted for Really Rottens. Sheridans have continued on the quest to record the most amount of draws in a single season after they took their tally to 4 for the season this time with Crazy Chicken who got on the scoreboard. The final match saw ALAYAH extend the gap between the top 4 teams and the bottom 4 as they beat Those Guys.

In the battle of the bloggers The Prixxx and Los Lochos Borrachos shared a draw. Nomads kept clear of the relegation zone by beating Bernies 1 which left them languishing down the bottom with Mad Cow who went down to a new looking Dream Team.

This allowed The Tavern to close in on a promotion spot after they continued a fine run of form this time taking out No Star Where. Bernies 2 opened there 2012 account with a 10-2 win over Mexico Lindo. Blue Geckos win over Boston helped lift them up in the overall standings as did  Buddha Bars win over ACDC.
