02/13/23 | Alan (Div 1) & Rusty (Div 2)

See who was focused in for the 2nd week of the season...

-----Division 1-----

Thao Dien Raiders 9-3 over Wizards @ Wand Resto Bar

Raiders managed to reverse their week 1 result on the road to Wizards in the first league fixture at Wand, Thao Dien. Raiders welcomed back long time absentee Roch Vial and it was almost like he never left - picking up a maximum 3 wins.

Raiders cruised into into a 3-0 lead after the doubles, dropping only 1 leg along the way. This form continued into the singles where they saw four wins for Henry (3-0), Eric (3-0), Paul (3-1) and Roch (3-1). Wizards two singles were also won convincingly 3-0 by Allan and Ron. The score now stood at 7-2 to Raiders and the win was already in the bag.

The final doubles round was a much more competitive affair, Josh & Roch aside, who swept past Raymond & Alex 3-0. Cris & Ron took a consolation point against Eric & Tom (3-1) leaving Paul & Cabby to put a spell on the Wizards with a 3-2 win and take Raiders to a 9-3 victory.

Paul continued his scoring form hitting 16 tons assisted by Henry (7) and Eric (6). Paul was also top checker with 7 but also hitting the outer ring with 6 each were Eric, Henry & Roch. Wizards were always chasing the game and no rabbits or hats were in sight this week. Allan nailed 5 tons and Ron checked 5 times. Paul was ahead of the pack stats wise but Roch, on his return to the league, dropping only a single leg all night, takes MOTM.

Man of the Match: Roch Vial (Raiders) - 3 wins, 2 tons & 6 checks

BNB 6-6 with Shooters @ Hangover Bar

A very competitive draw was fought between the two District 1 rivals. BNB bossed the doubles rounds while Shooters secured the singles round to share the spoils.  BNB won the opening doubles through Mariel/Rod & Bong/Vy before Jamie/Alan took the third 3-0 to close the gap.

The opening singles games both ended 3-0. John(Shooters) with an impressive win over Bong while Marc (BNB) was equally as deadly against Kabel. BNB’s Mariel then stepped up to take on Bailey - taking it 3-1 to increase their overall lead to 4-2. Now it was Shooters turn to come out guns blazing. Hiro, Jamie and Alan all took convincing wins turning the game on its head to lead 5-4.

Hiro/Alan made light work of Mariel/Rod winning 3-0 to put Shooters in a commanding position. However, BNB were not going to lie down that easily. Mark/Bong found themselves 2-1 behind to Jamie/Bailey but they fought back hard and eventually took the game 3-2. The final doubles game was crucial and in an exciting tussle Ken/Vy took it for BNB 3-1 leaving the teams tied at 6 a piece.

BNB had Mariel leading the way with stats of 7&5. Bong played some good darts and ended with 8&4. Vy also checked 4 times. Shooters saw Hiro once again shooting straight with 11&6 with Alan on 7&5, who also failed to drop a leg in his three games. Jamie was hot on the doubles claiming 6. Trevor opened up his league career playing the final game and he hit Shooters check in that game.

Man of the Match: Hiro (Shooters) - 2 wins, 11 tons & 6 checks

Nomads 9-3 over Those Guys @ Shooters

Nomads put their opening week defeat behind them quickly beating Div1 newcomers TH at The Home of Darts. Managing to win both doubles rounds 3-0, however the singles sandwiched in the middle was a different story all together.

There were three 3-0 wins for Nomads in the singles through Minh, Adrian and Chad but TH had three of their own wins with Alan beating Bill 3-2, Devon taking Melvin 3-2 and Peter defeating Cuong 3-1. Score standing at 6-3 to Nomads.

Unfortunately for TH, Nomads went on to win the final 3 games and therefore the match by 9-3. Apart from his singles defeat Cuong looked more like his old self and produced a 180, 10 tons and 7 checks. Chad did his bit with nice stats of 7&7 and went undefeated. Bill also checked 6 times with Minh just behind on 5. TH were left to rue their doubles display but had some good performances - especially in the singles. Peter hit 7&4, Alan 5&4 and Devon 1&5.

Man of the Match: Chad Young (Nomads) - 3 wins, 7 tons & 7 checks

Saigon United 7-5 over Alayah @ TJ’s Bar

Table topping Saigon proved once again they are united in their quest to take the title this season. Confirming the first doubles round 2-1 with two 3-0 wins they followed this up with four singles wins to claim a point before any final doubles darts were even thrown.

Shea and Sam (both 3-1) took singles victories for the road team but Saigon proved too strong in the others seeing wins for Duy, Thoan, Guppy and Khang. Alayah really pushed hard in the final doubles round with Shea/Kieran beating Guppy/Khang 3-1 in the first to reduce their deficit to two. However, the old Saigon deadly double act came to the fore. Never mind TNT, now the league has the explosive DND!      Duy / Nhan Duo! They blew up Sam & Tuyen 3-1 to confirm another victory for their team. Alayah were not completely demolished though as Guru/Chicken combined to take the final game 3-1.

Shea was hitting big for Alayah with 15 tons, 6 checks and remaining undefeated. He  recorded another 2 high checks with a huge 142 and repeated his 99 from week 1. Guru also got in on the act with a high of 83 and a further 4 checks / 4 tons. Kieran weighed in with 7&5 and Sam also checked 4 times. On a good night for Saigon hitting 35 tons overall their stand out player was dynamite Duy with 11&5 - who was also undefeated. Khang went 7&5, Nhan 8&3, Thoan 3&5, Guppy 5&4 and Kevin 1&4.

Man of the Match: Shea Pellow (Alayah) - 3 wins, 15 tons, 6 checks & 2 high checks (142 & 99)

-----Division 2-----

Madhouse 6-6 vs. dTwo Dartaholics @ Phattys

Madhouse played their season's first matchup at home and saw out a 6-6 draw with dTwo Dartaholics, matching the same result they opened with last week vs. LSD. Proving their addictions are paying off after a couple years struggling in the table, this season DTwo remains unbeaten with 4 points from 2 games played.

The visitors started off with the hot hands in taking the first two Doubles matches through Geordie, Tom, Travis and Thanh.  Madhouse then regrouped to take one back in the final doubles through Steve Carss and Ian.

The Singles see-sawed back and forth -- with big wins from Colin, Derek and Ian  (Madhouse) and Trevor and Geordie (d2)  -- until the last Singles, which saw the home team's Stephen come out on top.  When the dust cleared, the score stood at 5-4 to Madhouse entering the final Doubles, with it all to play for.

Tiger Thanh and Xuan Duong took the first scalp to bring the Dartaholics back to level terms, before Derek and Ian squeaked out another close one to put the visitors' backs up against the wall. But "ex-Phukker" Geordie -- perhaps feeling right at home in his old team's longtime stomping grounds -- rose to the challenge, checking both games alongside Thuy to rescue the point!

The typically balanced effort from Madhouse was paced by Ian checking 5 times among his 3 victorious matches, with a couple tons thrown in as well. Geordie led the visiting side with identical numbers to Ian's, while Travis chipped in with 4 checks.

Man of the Match -- Geordie (3 wins, 5 checks, 2 tons) pips Ian merely on the timing, owning the clutch Final arrow thrown.

Pinoy Patriots 8-4 over LSD @ dTwo Sports Pub

Pinoy Patriots, on a Bye to open the season, got the ball rolling in the right direction in their first match of the Spring, bettering LSD 8-4 at dTwo Sports pub. The relegated Patriots were paced by Joren with 6 checks and 4 tons, alongside Freddie and Khen both checking 4 times while hitting a ton. Amante also nailed a casual 180 on the night.

Despite being swept in the first 3 Doubles, LSD remained optimistic, as they felt they should have taken 2 of them. In 2 of the deciding matches, there were indeed some close calls from both sides before Pinoy hit their winners.

Yet it was more of the same in the Singles, with the home team winning 4 in a row via Freddie, Joren, Richard and Khen. "Funky Priest" Dan and Rusty pulled out bookend Singles victories to open and close the round, but the points had already been claimed by the hosts.

Victory having been secured, LSD was allowed to stretch out a bit more and took 2 of the 3 last Doubles. The visiting team was led by Captain Dan's 4 checks and a ton, while Mark and Rusty added 4 and 3 checks respectively. On the horizon, Pinoy Patriots will tangle with Crazy Hangover on the 21st, while LSD is idle until the last day of the month.

Man of the Match: Joren with 3 wins, 6 tons and 4 checks.

Baz 10-2 over Wild Darts @ the Hideout

Baz evened their record at 1-1 by "welcoming" new team Wild Darts to the League with a 10-2 victory. The match marked the inaugural competition at the new Hideout bar in district 2.

Tara, Mario, Donald and James started with 4 consecutive legs won in the opening Doubles for Baz -- while Sterling and Lily pulled a game back to leave it at 2-1 entering the Singles.

What next ensued was a total whitewash, as Baz won every individual matchup 2 to nil. The Final 3 Doubles matches saw Hien check twice to gain the new squad's other positive result on the night. Wild Darts Captain Lily hit 4 tons to go along with one checkout, while Baz had winning contributions from Mario (5 tons, 5 checks),  Donald (2 & 4) and Marc, whose 4 tons and 3 checks included a stunning 15 darter!

Man of the Match: MARIO (3 wins, 5 tons and 5 checks)
